JOM Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., a subsidiary of health care company Johnson & Johnson, recently broke ground on the company’s new 325,000 square foot pharmaceutical distribution center. The project will create about 100 full-time jobs and represents an initial investment of nearly $15.5 million in machinery and equipment in the facility.

The new facility in Shepherdsville will complement distribution centers in New Jersey that serve 11 Johnson & Johnson operating companies.

"JOM Pharmaceutical Services selected Shepherdsville because of its central location and the excellent assistance we received from the Commonwealth of Kentucky," said Courtney Billington, Vice President of Johnson & Johnson’s Global Pharmaceutical Supply Group in North America. "We are looking forward to a long relationship and are excited about the new facility."

Located on Conestoga Parkway in the Settlers Point Business Park, the new distribution center is expected to be open by January 2008. Operations at the facility will include receiving, storage, distribution, shipping, customer service and support services.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Johnson & Johnson for tax benefits up to $3.96 million under the Kentucky Jobs Development Act (KJDA), an incentive program designed to increase service- and technology-related employment in the state.
