Plastics manufacturer Absolute Plastics will open a plant in Wilson, N.C., creating 150 jobs and investing $18 million over the next three years. The state has approved a $300,000 One North Carolina Fund grant to assist with the project.
Absolute Plastics will produce thermoformed plastic packaging for the food industry at a 107,000 square foot plant in Wilson. While wages will vary by job function, the expected average weekly wage of the new jobs is between $540 and $562 plus benefits.
"North Carolina and the City of Wilson will provide our company with an excellent source of labor, close proximity to rail and interstate highways for distribution of our products, and local vendors experienced in supplying services to plastic manufacturing companies," said Ray Bryson of Absolute Plastics. "It was through the collective efforts of the Governor's office and local agencies that made it possible for the company to locate in North Carolina."
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match.
