Patrick Metals, a Mishawaka, Ind.,-based manufacturer of custom aluminum extrusions, has announced it would expand operations with a new 30,000 square foot building and create approximately 40 new jobs. Owned by Patrick Industries, the company chose the Indiana location over competing sites in Michigan and Ohio.

The new facility will house a new state-of-the-art vertical powder coating line and represent a company investment of approximately $4.5 million. The paint line will be one of only three such lines in operation in North America. The new facility will have the capability to paint lineal aluminum extrusions of up to 25 feet in length.

Patrick anticipates the new facility will be fully functional by early 2007.

"This line will enable us to meet the demands of our customers for high quality painted extrusions provided at very competitive prices, and also allow us to service new and emerging markets," said Eric Karaman, general manager of sales and marketing for Patrick Metals. "We are proud to be the first in the area with such a facility."

The Indiana EDC offered incentives including up to $20,000 in training grants and approximately $230,000 in tax credits based on job creation and capital investment. The city of Mishawaka will provide the company with a tax abatement on both real and personal property.
