Kidde Aerospace and Defense, makers of aircraft and vehicle fire protection and suppression systems, will expand its facility in Wilson, N.C., adding 131 new jobs and investing $3.4 million over the next three years. The state of North Carolina will provide assistance in the form of a $150,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.
Kidde Aerospace and Defense is a manufacturer of fire protection and suppression systems for commercial and military aircraft and ground vehicles. The expansion will include the addition of a production line to manufacture fire extinguishers for military vehicles. The company will also build a Center for Excellence to house the design and engineering team.
While wages will vary by job function, the expected average wage of the new jobs is $42,000 per year plus benefits, which is higher than the Wilson County average wage of $30,680, not including benefits.
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match.
