IJS Global Inc., an air and ocean freight forwarder, customs broker and non-vessel operating common carrier, said it has launched its own operations in Taiwan under the name of IJS Global (Taiwan) Ltd.
Taiwan is the first location in Asia where IJS Global has formed a company rather than acquiring or partnering with established firms.
IJS Global (Taiwan) Ltd. will offer a range of air, ocean and land transport services ranging from express carriage and project forwarding to less-than-container load sea freight and sea/air solutions.
The joint venture broadens IJS Global’s reach across the Asia-Pacific, and is a logical expansion to support recent investments in China and Hong Kong. IJS Global also has operations in the Philippines and Thailand. Further expansion is planned throughout the region.
“We chose to establish our own presence in Taiwan because we wanted to have full control of operations so closely linked geographically to China and Hong Kong,” said John Gallahan, president and CEO, Asia Pacific and Americas, for IJS Global. “Our new company will support Taiwanese exporters locally in addition to those who have shifted their production to China and are exporting from there. We are also well-positioned to help Taiwanese importers who are sourcing from markets around the globe.”
