Perot Systems Corp. announced at a news conference here that it plans to expand its resources and facilities in India to a fourth city, Coimbatore, with the opening of a new information technology center (IT) there later this year.
Perot Systems, a provider of IT services and business solutions, has operated facilities in India for the past 10 years, continuously expanding in Bangalore, Noida and Chennai.
Peter Altabef, the company’s president and CEO, made the announcement at the Business Process Solutions center in Chennai.
Perot Systems' Coimbatore operations will initially handle expansion business from the company’s worldwide business process outsourcing (BPO) operations in a new 20,000 square foot, two-story structure that will accommodate about 375 seats across three shifts at its opening, bringing the company’s total India-based work force to more than 5,000.
“Our new facility in Coimbatore will help us meet growing client demand worldwide for efficient delivery of the high-quality services produced by Perot Systems associates in India,” Altabef said. “Perot Systems continues to grow and gain the reputation as the most trusted provider of services in the information technology industry. Our expansion in India is an important part of that growth.”
Perot Systems’ growth in 2005 was highlighted by the launch of its infrastructure operations in Noida and Bangalore in December to complement its expanding applications and BPO demand.
“Our expansion into a fourth city in India is not only a sign of continuing growth and success for Perot Systems, but it is also an important promise kept on our commitment to India and the talented IT services professionals here,” said Padma Ravichander, managing director of Perot Systems’ global Consulting & Applications Solutions Division and senior executive for Perot Systems in India and Asia-Pacific. “The announcement is another signal to the vibrant IT services industry in the Asia-Pacific region and to our associates, from the 10-year veterans to the new hires, that India is important to Perot Systems and Perot Systems is important to India.”
The India BPO team at Perot Systems serves more than 60 clients worldwide and employs around 1,900 workers in India.
