Team Metal Finishing of South Carolina (TMFSC) announced it would locate its new aluminum anodizing operations in Horry County, S.C., investing $1.5 million and initially creating 15 jobs. The new company is the result of a collaboration with PWG LLC, an existing aluminum parts manufacturer, to anodize sunroof and convertible top components for the automotive industry.

TMFSC will locate operations in PWG’s Aynor plant site to facilitate the flow of materials between the two businesses and reduce costs associated with handling pre and post finished products. The company has a state-of-the-art anodizing line ready for installation in Aynor that will be installed in a relatively short time to allow start-up of operation by September 2006.

“Our management team has over 100 years of combined anodizing experience, and we intend to build and operate a world class facility that will support the growth of the automotive industry in South Carolina and the rest of the Southeast, which is quickly becoming the new center of U.S. auto manufacturing,” said Dan Weaver, president of TEAM SC. “Our production capacity at this location will be focused on PWG, but we will also be supplying other automotive related manufacturers in the Carolinas and Georgia.”

The parent company, Team Metal Finishing of Georgia, was formerly known as Toccoa Metal Finishing. Founded in 1988, TMFG grew from a 10,000 square-foot facility with seven employees to an operation that encompasses 7.6 acres, a 60,000 square foot plant and has a workforce of 60 employees. The company is ISO 9001 certified, was named the Georgia Small Manufacturer of the Year in 2001 and was awarded the Georgia EPA Gold Medal for its wastewater treatment procedures in 2005.
