Enbasa USA will manufacture high-quality mattress ticking at a plant in Matkins, N.C., with anticipated production to begin in June 2006. The company is the U.S. subsidiary of Spanish-owned Enbasa Laval. While wages will vary by job function, the expected average weekly wage of the new jobs is $534 plus benefits, which is higher than the Caswell County average weekly wage of $421, not including benefits.
"We found the N.C. Department of Commerce and Caswell County very helpful with this project," said Isidre Compta, executive vice president of Embasa USA. "We are very excited to open this facility which will add an emphasis on providing better service to our U.S. customers."
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require, and are contingent upon, a local match.
