C&M Fine Pack, a subsidiary of Chuo Kagaku Company Ltd. and Mitsubishi Corp., recently completed a major expansion project at its Fort Wayne facility. The project, the company’s third expansion since 2000, brings additional capacity and employment to C&M Fine Pack. The plant now totals 450,000 square feet in size. C&M Fine Pack also maintains corporate headquarters and a manufacturing facility in San Bernardino, Calif., and a national sales office in Irvine, Calif.
The $27 million Allen County reinvestment will allow C&M Fine Pack to expand its level of service to existing and prospective customers throughout North America. The local operation produces high quality plastic packaging for food products, including trays, lids and platters for a variety of food retailers and processors.
“We are extremely pleased to officially bring this new capacity online,” stated Andrew Falcon, President and CEO of C&M Fine Pack. “The past success we’ve enjoyed in the Fort Wayne area and the strength of our relationships here played a large part in our decision to expand.”
Chuo Kagaku Company, Ltd., headquartered in Kohnosu City, Japan, has been a pioneer in the field of food packaging since its establishment in 1961 and is Japan’s largest disposable food packaging manufacturer. The company employs more than 2,000 associates worldwide across 21 locations. The Allen County facility, built in 1989, is the largest operation in the Chuo Kagaku family.
The expansion was originally announced in January 2005. At the time of the announcement, C&M Fine Pack employed 302 workers. Today, employment stands at 420. That number is expected to reach approximately 570 by the end of 2007.
