MacLean Power Systems (MPS) York LLC announced that it is doubling its 100,000 square foot York County manufacturing facility, investing $8 million and creating 90 new jobs over the next five years. MacLean manufactures products and supplies for the utility and telecommunications industries, including insulators for power systems, at the York plant.
“MPS analyzed several locations for this significant investment, and South Carolina and York County came out number one. South Carolina is a wonderful place to live, and we value the talented people who care about the company,” said Barry MacLean, President and CEO of MacLean-Fogg Company.
MPS’ parent company, MacLean-Fogg, is recognized worldwide as the leading manufacturer of specialty fastening systems and components for the automotive industry. Recognizing the changing face of the electric utility marketplace in the late ’80s, MacLean-Fogg began an expansion program to grow the breadth of its product offerings, acquiring Reliable Power Products in 1986 to create a manufacturing presence for the electric utility marketplace.
The company owns a number of other manufacturing businesses, including MacLean Fiberglass, which operates in Newberry, S.C., which makes fiberglass pultrusions for silicone rubber insulators, fiberglass brackets, and guy strain insulators.
