Wincor Nixdorf, a provider of information technology solutions to banks and retailers, will build an ATM manufacturing facility in Mumbai, India.
The company is also eyeing outsourcing business from banks in India and would provide end-to-end banking solution in India. The company is currently selling ATM machines in the country.
We have been growing in triple digits for the past three years and we don’t want to stick to selling ATM machines only,” said Jorg Brinkmoller, a spokesman for Wincor Nixdorf. “We have a wider portfolio of solutions to offer. Also setting up of manufacturing facility in India is in line with our globalization strategy.”
He said that technology would be sourced in from Germany and assembling would be done in India.
“India would act as a regional hub for the company and cater the ATM needs of the neighboring countries,” Brinkmoller said.
Other countries where Wincor has manufacturing facilities include Shanghai, Brazil, Germany and Singapore.
The company has decided to provide end-to-end solutions to the banking industry in India. It would now offer the entire breadth of self-service and automation solutions, including information and banking transaction terminals, statement printers and in solution business, applications to handle and optimize key in branch business processes. The outsourcing would include servicing of multi-vendor ATM machines and multi-vendor software support.
