Schilli Distribution Services, Inc. (SDS), along with the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority, is pleased to announce the purchase of a speculative building in the Green Valley Industrial Park for the location of a new logistics facility.
The facility is expected to be completed around mid-year and should be fully operational by May 2006. The speculative building was a partnership arrangement between Pattillo Construction of Stone Mountain and the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority. The 106,000 square foot building sits on a 29-acre site in Green Valley Industrial Park and will be completed by Pattillo to Schilli’s specifications.
The facility will be equipped with overhead cranes and include state-of-the-art equipment and processes with an investment exceeding $6 million. After the first year startup period the Company will have around 25 employees. SDS will be providing shipping and transportation management services primarily to Caterpillar’s manufacturing and assembly plant in Griffin, Ga.
SDS currently provides similar services for Caterpillar plants in Lafayette, Ind., and Mossville, Ill. Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of power system generator sets, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and construction and mining equipment.
