Viam Manufacturing recently announced a $11.5 million expansion of its Manchester, Tenn., facility in 2006. The 114,000 square foot expansion represents 90,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space and 24,000 square feet of corporate office space.
“We are pleased to announce that we are continuing with our long range growth plan in Coffee County by investing $11.5 million in 2006 to expand our current facility by a total of 114,000 square feet, representing 90,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 24,000 square feet of corporate office space, to meet current and future customer demands,” said Yasufumi Matsumiya, president of Viam (TN). “The 24,000 square foot addition will house the corporate offices for VIAM’s North American operations.”
The company selected the Coffee County Interstate Industrial Park in 1998 and leased a 95,000 square foot facility located on 10 acres. The initial operation opened in 1999. VIAM’s growth has included a 58,000 square foot addition to its initial plant, the purchase of an additional 10 acres and construction of a 35,000 square foot standing building. The latest expansion will add to their existing facility bringing VIAM’s total square footage to 302,000 square feet.
Viam currently employs 220 at its Coffee County facility, where the company manufactures premier floor mats, truck liners, and other non-woven fabric auto accessories for domestic and overseas customers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, General Motors, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Ford and others. VIAM (TN), LP’s parent company is Japan Vilene.
