Ocean Steel Corp., fabricator of structural steel, has acquired and rehabilitated a factory in Conklin (Broome County), N.Y. The $3 million project is expected to create 65 new jobs by January 1, 2007.
Ocean Steel Corp. is affiliated with Ocean Steel & Construction Limited, a Canadian company founded in 1955. It is also a member of the OSCO Construction Group who engineer, manufacture, deliver and install prefabricated steel and concrete building components along the Eastern seaboard from Newfoundland to Maryland. “We are pleased with our selection of the Southern Tier Region of New York State as our base to service the mid-Atlantic construction market,” said says Hans Klohn, president of Ocean Steel. “The help and assistance provided by the Empire State Development Corp., along with the interest and work ethic shown by local government leaders, management and employees made the Conklin facility the most attractive choice for our construction group.”
In consideration of its commitment to reopening a shuttered manufacturing facility in New York State, Ocean Steel has received a $100,000 Capital Grant from Empire State Development to assist it in the acquisition of the property and building.
