PeopleSupport Inc., a leading business process outsourcing company, will invest $5 million to open a new contact center here. Recently, PeopleSupport entered into an agreement with a leading U.S financial services company to provide customer management services to its English and Spanish speaking customers.

PeopleSupport will provide customer management services in English from its existing world-class facilities in the Philippines, and in Spanish from its new facilities in Costa Rica.

PeopleSupport plans to build a state-of-the-art facility in San Jose, and use its service delivery platform to expand its operations to this new geography. The facility will be custom built to service the company’s new financial services client. The new facilities are approximately 3,000 square meters and could support up to approximately 500 employees.

“This new relationship for PeopleSupport will enable the company to expand its operations to Costa Rica, where we see excellent potential to offer Spanish and English [business outsourcing] services,” said Lance Rosenzweig, chairman and CEO of PeopleSupport. “In addition to supporting a new financial services institution, our existing clients have shown interest in geographic diversification. Costa Rica offers an educated, Spanish and English-speaking work force at reasonable wages, and we believe our new capabilities in Costa Rica will be very complementary to our operations in the Philippines.”
