Marisa Industries Inc. recently announced that it will expand its manufacturing operations in Auburn Hills, Mich. The project will create 372 new jobs, including 223 directly by the company. Assistance offered through the Michigan Economic Development Corp. helped convince the company to choose Michigan over a competing site in Kentucky.
The MEDC approved a Single Business Tax credit valued at more than $2.2 million over nine years to win the company’s investment. The city of Auburn Hills has proposed a six-year tax abatement valued at $36,000 for the first year to support the project.
“Marisa Industries is pleased to be able to make this project a reality and to expand our operations in the state of Michigan,” Marisa Industries Inc. President and CEO Jesse M. Lopez said. “Through the efforts of both the MEDC and the city of Auburn Hills, we are able to continue to do business here and provide our customers with high-quality, competitively priced products.”
Marisa and its subsidiary BAE Industries Inc. supply and design metal stampings and mechanisms including seat, door and trunk latches for the auto industry. The company also provides contract engineering personnel for many original equipment manufacturers. The company currently operates a manufacturing facility in Center Line and a design, engineering and assembly facility in Auburn Hills.
