Republic Airlines recently established a new overnight maintenance facility and flight crew base at Pittsburgh International Airport, creating as many as 140 jobs within three years.
The $21.4 million project will support the company’s growing fleet of “Embraer 170” airplanes, and will bring new employment opportunities for maintenance technicians, flight attendants and pilots. Pennsylvania is investing $530,000.
With help from the Allegheny County Airport Authority and the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development, the state’s Community and Economic Development Department joined with the Governor’s Action Team to offer Republic Airways a financial package that includes a $150,000 Opportunity Grant, $100,000 in Customized Job Training funds and $280,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits.
