Pella Corp., a leading manufacturer of premium-quality windows, entry door systems and patio doors, announced that it will open a new manufacturing facility in Tucson, Ariz., for the production of ThermaStar windows and patio doors. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2006.

The privately-held company will convert the former Weiser Lock facility.

“Among the things that attracted Pella to the Tucson area were the region’s diverse, skilled work force, educational opportunities, transportation systems, and the overall quality of life,” said Mark Hinkie, vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of Pella’s vinyl division. “We are pleased to be locating in this historic city known for its wealth of cultural attractions, dedicated people, and outstanding climate. “

According to Hinkie, the Tucson location is ideal for expanding its operations to serve customers in the Southwest.
