Idexx Laboratories, Inc. recently announced its plans for a $100 million expansion in Westbrook, Maine over the next 20 years that is expected to create 500 jobs over the next five years.
Idexx's expansion calls for purchasing and renovating the building it currently leases in Westbrook's Five Star Industrial Park and possibly constructing a new building on land the company owns across the street.
"This investment is a milestone in our company's history and demonstrates a major commitment to our future growth here in Maine," said Jonathan Ayers, president and CEO of Idexx.
Ayers said working with the DECD officials, Commissioner Jack Cashman, Westbrook Mayor Bruce Chuluda, and city officials made the current expansion plans possible.
Idexx, based in Westbrook since 1991, is an industry leader in veterinary and medical technology and manufacturing. The company employs over 3,000 people in facilities in 13 countries, including more than 1,200 people at the Westbrook facility.
