At its recently held February meeting, New Mexico’s Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) board approved $358,775 in funds, creating 32 new jobs, for businesses that are expanding operations in Bernalillo County.

February’s recipients are:

Advent Solar, a solar photovoltaics start-up; $226,765, 16 jobs;

Miox Corp., a water treatment equipment manufacturer; $68,540, 8 jobs;

Casework Technologies Ltd., a custom commercial cabinet manufacturer, $63,470, 8 jobs.

“Providing training dollars to eligible companies that hire New Mexicans is one of the most effective incentives we have in the state,” said NMEDD Secretary Rick Homans. “Creating new job opportunities helps move New Mexico’s economy forward.”

The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) supports economic development in New Mexico by reimbursing qualified companies for a significant portion of training costs associated with newly created jobs. The JTIP program, formerly known as the Industrial Training Development Program, strengthens New Mexico’s economic base by providing financial incentives for job creation to companies that bring new dollars into the state. Training funded by JTIP also elevates the skill level of New Mexico residents who fill newly created positions.

Eligibility for JTIP funds depends on the company’s business, the role of the newly created positions in that business, and the trainees themselves.

JTIP is one of the most flexible, aggressive, and competitive job-training incentive packages in the country. The program provides for classroom or on-the-job training, reimbursing an expanding or relocating business for 50 to 70 percent of a trainee’s wages for up to as six months.

“JTIP funding supports economic based businesses that create jobs for New Mexicans,” stated NMEDD Assistant Secretary Eric Griego. “This funding also helps build a diverse, qualified workforce that makes New Mexico competitive when a business is looking to re-locate or expand.”
