Parametric Technology Corp., one of the world’s largest software companies, is planning to establish a product development solutions center in Uniontown, Pa. The state will make available nearly $600,000 to assist with the project.
“Our goal is to make investments that bring jobs to Pennsylvania communities like Uniontown,” said Governor Rendell. “The investments we are making in companies and people are positioning Pennsylvania to compete in global markets. And, PTC’s decision to locate here shows confidence in our skilled workforce and our business climate.
The new solutions center will enable PTC to broaden the range of services provided to its customers for product life-cycle management, content management, and dynamic publishing.
“As a global company, we understand that it is often easier for businesses to lower costs by outsourcing aspects of its operation, but we also understand our responsibility to create technology careers here at home. We are confident that this model can be employed locally by leveraging skilled domestic workers to help our customers drive technology and design innovation,” said Barry Cohen, executive vice president of PTC. “Uniontown provides us with a unique opportunity to build a sustainable operation with a deep talent pool from surrounding universities.”
With the help of the Fay-Penn Economic Development Council, the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Governor’s Action Team offered PTC a financial package that includes a $375,000 Opportunity Grant, $93,750 in Job Training Assistance funds, and $125,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits. The total cost of the project will be $2 million.
PTC provides leading product lifecycle management, content management and dynamic publishing solutions to more than 40,000 companies worldwide.
