Cardinal Health, the leading provider of products and services supporting the health care industry, today announce the opening of a new manufacturing plant in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico for its Pyxis products business. Pyxis products improve patient safety and increase quality of care in hospitals, nursing homes and other health care facilities around the world.

It's a good fit," said Sally Grigoriev, senior vice president of manufacturing and operations for the Clinical Technologies and Services segment of Cardinal Health. "Also, Cardinal Health already has a strong infrastructure on the island, which has allowed for a seamless expansion."
Cardinal Health now operates six facilities employing nearly 1000 in Puerto Rico. The latest expansion in Las Piedras will manufacture components for the Pyxis MedStation automated medication management system and Pyxis SupplyStation supply management system. Finished goods for the Pyxis HelpMate automated trackless robotic courier will also be manufactured there.
Cardinal Health Inc. employs 201-500 people at an operation in Humacao in the provision of complete pharmaceutical packaging services; 101-200 people at another operation in Humacao in the contract manufacturing of pharmaceuticals; 201-500 people at an operation in Guaynabo in the manufacture of packaging products for pharmaceutical industries; 201-500 people at another operation in Guaynabo in the manufacture of printed folding cartons for healthcare packaging; 101-200 people at its operation in Manati in the manufacture of inserts & printed pouches for pharmaceutical packages; 51-100 people at its operation in Anasco in the manufacture of medical devices for lung-drainage; & 1-50 people at its operation in Manati in the assembly of electromechanical test products.
