The Missouri Department of Economic Development recently approved a $500,000 industrial infrastructure grant through the Community Development Block Grant program for the city of Farmington, which will be used along with local resources to acquire land, provide interior and exterior construction improvements and provide parking so that Accent Marketing Services, LLC can locate there.
Accent Marketing Services is a subsidiary of Toronto, Canada-based MDC Partners. The company provides customer relationship management solutions and customer service to its client’s customers. Its clients include several of the nation’s leading telecommunications providers and others from the insurance, pharmaceutical, durable goods manufacturing, retail, hospitality and travel, and automotive industries. The company has sites in the U.S., the Caribbean and the Philippines, including another Missouri site in Kansas City.
The city proposes to improve an existing facility, which will be leased to the company by the Farmington Industrial Development Authority. CDBG funds will be used to cover costs to purchase the land, make building improvements and construct a parking lot. The project will also receive local assistance to help with the construction of lights in the parking lot, relocation of public utilities, landscaping, and electrical improvements.
The Farmington IDA will be responsible for operating and maintaining the public infrastructure improvements.
Funds will be released to Farmington as certain requirements set forth by the program are met. The program provides economic development grants and loan funds to cities with a population under 50,000 and counties under 200,000 to assist in the location of new industry and the expansion or retention of existing businesses.
