Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp., a provider of global transportation and logistics services for chemical and process manufacturers, officially named Charlotte as its choice for a North American service center. The company will expand its existing operation, creating 300 new jobs and investing more than $2 million in the area during the next five years.
The Danbury, Conn.,-based company currently employs 45 at the Atrium Corporate Center located near I-77 and Billy Graham Parkway.
“The accessible location, high-caliber pool of technology-focused professionals, and support of the City of Charlotte, State of North Carolina and the Charlotte Chamber made Charlotte an ideal city in which to establish our North American service center,” said Bob Shellman, CEO of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation. “As we’ve experienced a year of tremendous growth, this move demonstrates the next step in a continued expansion throughout North America and to Europe and the Asian Markets.”
The new jobs will be primarily carrier selection specialists and customer service employees. Odyssey’s employees will receive training through a New and Expanding Industry Training (NEIT) program administered by the North Carolina Community College System.
Other partners who contributed to this project include the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. North Carolina was selected as the company’s location after competing with Connecticut, New Jersey and Texas for the service center.
