Fisk Alloy Conductors, Inc, a manufacturer of specialized alloy conductors, plans to purchase and renovate a facility in Whitestown, which was formerly used by Strandflex and shuttered in 2005. The project is expected to create 30 new jobs over three years.
Fisk Alloy Conductors Inc is a subsidiary of Fisk Alloy Wire Inc, a privately held company established in 1973 and located in Hawthorne, N.J. It is one of a few companies in the manufacturing of conductors that has “green technology”.
As industry continues to reduce its use of hazardous materials and become environmentally sensitive, Fisk Alloy Conductors has already gone “green” to help reduce the use of materials like lead, mercury and cadmium. Fisk has developed a product line of alloy conductors that are 100% free from cadmium and other restricted heavy metals. The alloys are being sold under the trade name Percon.
“Although absent for a generation, the Fisks have family roots in Oneida County going back to the early 1800s. The opportunity to return to Oneida County in a meaningful way and the grant are a nice homecoming,” said president Eric Fisk.
Fisk Alloy Conductors Inc plan to begin renovations to the facility immediately upon its purchase and begin production by early summer. Fisk Alloy Conductors, along with its parent Fisk Alloy Wire Inc, produces specialty copper alloy wire for electronic conductors and conductors used in specialized wire products that have applications ranging from telecommunications and computers to aerospace and automotive components.
In consideration of its commitment to New York State, Fisk Alloy Conductors Inc is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a Capital Grant of up to $150,000 to assist with the purchase and renovation of the facility.
