Tahoe LLC announced a $3 million investment and purchase of the defunct Elizabeth Weaving mill in Blacksburg as part of its plans to manufacture woven textiles for the home décor market. The new company is the result of a merger of Elite Textile of Albermarle, NC, and National Contract Associates of Roswell, Ga.
Tahoe began operations in August and its opening created 50 jobs in Cherokee County. The fabrics manufactured at the Blacksburg facility will be marketed under the Elizabeth Home Fabric and Elm Road Classic brands.
“We’re pleased that Cherokee County, and just as important, the state of South Carolina were the winners for this new venture,” said Secretary of Commerce Bob Faith. “We continue to be a competitive force in the textile industry and are glad that this announcement helps bring new jobs to this community. Tahoe’s desire to keep operations in the United States played a major role in Blacksburg gaining this new company.”
