Hartford Provision Co. to Expand Facility in Connecticut

Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell recently announced that a $1.5 million loan to help the South Windsor-based Hartford Provision Co. retain 114 jobs and create 67 new jobs. is expected to be approved when the State Bond Commission meets on Friday.

The loan from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s Manufacturing Assistance Program will assist the company in its expansion at 625 Nutmeg Road North, South Windsor. The company relocated to this location in August. The loan is for 10 years at 2 percent interest, with $500,000 forgiven if job creation goals are met.

Hartford Provision Co. is a nearly 100- year old full-line food service distributor offering over 4,500 items to over 500 customers. The company has invested approximately $15 million in this relocation and expansion.

Founded in 1908, the company has evolved through three generations of family ownership spanning nearly a century to one of the largest, most respected full-line independent distributors in the northeast.

In 1993, the company was selected as the area representative for Distributor Market Advantage (DMA) a network of 16 independent distributors with the sole purpose of establishing a distribution delivery system for servicing national customers.
