South Carolina Yutaka Technologies (SCYT), a Japanese supplier of parts for Honda ATVs, announced today an expansion of its manufacturing facility in Kershaw County. This expansion represents a $4 million investment to accommodate new frame and brake parts for the Honda ATV.
The company will add 48,000 square feet to its existing 122,000 square foot facility in Heritage Pointe Industrial Park on Interstate 20. This additional space will improve material flow and increase process efficiency while adding room for the new products.
SCYT anticipates hiring 14 full-time positions to meet the increased workload. Hiring is anticipated in the first quarter 2006, and SCYT will partner with the SC Center for Accelerated Technology Training (CATT) and the SC Employment Security Commission.
“We have made our home in Kershaw County and are thankful to serve and grow with such a successful customer as Honda,” said SCYT President Tamotsu Ishikawa. “This community offers a tremendous environment to conduct business and offers our associates an extremely high quality of life. We hope to enjoy many more years of growth and prosperity here in Kershaw County.”
This announcement is the second expansion for the company within the last three years. In 2003, SCYT expanded their catalytic converter line with a $7 million investment, 70 new jobs, and 24,000 additional square feet of manufacturing space.
