Sam Cobb, president of RMS Foods, Inc., and Rick Searer, group vice president for Convenient Meals for Kraft North America, recently announced the completion of the rebuilding and expansion of the RMS Foods, Inc. plant, which will create up to 75 new jobs and retain 100 jobs lost earlier this year in a fire.
On Valentine’s Day of 2005 the RMS Foods, Inc. plant, which makes organic Boca burgers, was almost entirely destroyed by a fire. Now, less than a year later the rebuilding and expansion of the plant, which cost approximately $8 million, is currently on track to be completed this month.
“This new building would not be here without the assistance of the City of Hobbs, Governor Richardson, Lt. Governor Denish, the NMEDD, the EDC, and the Bank of America,” stated Sam Cobb, President of RMS Foods, Inc. “Soon we will have hundreds of Boca burgers per minute flowing through our plant destined for customers throughout the United States.”
Many of New Mexico’s rural communities are perfect locations for businesses to create a trained workforce and build a healthy economy.
Currently, RMS Foods produces about 40 percent of Boca products, which is 10 million lbs. As of June of next year, Kraft will be adding an additional line, doubling capacity. And, at the conclusion of the project RMS Foods will be producing close to 85 percent of Boca’s overall annual volume.
“We’ve had a relationship with RMS Foods since February of 2000, when we signed our first contract to have RMS Foods begin to produce our Boca products,” stated Rick Searer, Group VP US Convenient Meals Sector Kraft Foods. “Under Sam Cobb’s leadership, RMS has proven to be high-quality, efficient, and reliable supplier.”
Kraft Foods has 98,000 employees globally, and this year alone the company will have approximately $33 billion in revenues.
RMS Foods, Inc. is a privately held company that exclusively produces the Boca brand of soy based food products for Kraft Foods.
