Teel Plastics to Build New Facility in Baraboo, Wisconsin

BARABOO, Wis. (October 28, 2005) — The city of Baraboo will receive a $532,000 Community Development Block Grant.

The City of Baraboo will receive a $532,000 Community Development Block Grant - Public Facilities for Economic Development (CDBG-PFED) grant from the Department of Commerce to support the construction of a new facility by Teel Plastics, Inc. The project will generate $14.6 million in public and private investment, and will create 76 jobs over a three-year period.

Teel Plastics, Inc. is proposing to construct a new manufacturing plant and company headquarters on a portion of 80 acres located on the west edge of the City of Baraboo. The property is currently undeveloped land. The City of Baraboo will use the funds for the extension of streets, sanitary and utilities to the proposed new facility.

Founded in 1951, Teel Plastics, Inc. currently operates four manufacturing facilities. It is certified to ISO 9001 and maintains a workforce of over 251 full-time employees in the Baraboo area.

CDBG-PFED grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community buildings, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
