Kolpak, a manufacturer of commercial walk-in refrigerators and freezers used in cafeterias and restaurants, recently announced that it will be expanding its operations in Decatur County, Tennessee. The company will be closing its manufacturing operation in River Falls, Wis., and consolidating those operations at its facility in Parsons. The transition is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
“We were faced with the decision to consolidate the two facilities,” said Carl Stueck, executive vice president and general manager of Kolpak. “We chose Tennessee because of the available capacity of the recently expanded facility in Parsons as well as the fact that it’s a location which makes transportation of our products a lot less costly to our customers. The availability of a quality workforce was a factor in the decision as well.”
Decatur County is a certified Three-Star community with Level III status in the program. Funds from the FastTrack Job Training Assistance Program will aid in the training of 97 new Kolpak employees. The company’s expansion represents an investment of $750,000 in equipment upgrades and new production lines.
Kolpak is a leading brand within the Manitowoc Refrigeration Division of the Manitowoc Foodservice Group.
