Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, manufacturer of specialty foam products, plans to consolidate operations from their Malvern, Pa., plant to their Granville facility. The company will invest $3.3 million in building improvements, machinery and equipment, and training. This project is expected to retain 147 jobs and create 20 new jobs.
The Granville Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics location manufactures specialty foam products for gasketing, sealing, and sound absorption. This project will establish a new line of medical products and expand the existing base in technical foam. The Malvern location will be closed.
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is part of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, headquartered in Paris, France. Saint-Gobain is a leading producer of construction products (building materials, insulation and pipe), high-performance materials (abrasives, industrial ceramics, high-performance plastics, and reinforcements), flat glass, and glass containers. One of the top 100 industrial companies in the world, Saint-Gobain’s 2004 sales were approximately $40 billion.
In consideration of its commitment to New York State, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a capital grant of up to $150,000 to be used as reimbursement for a portion of machinery and equipment expenses. As a Certified Washington County Empire Zone business, the company is also eligible for Empire Zone benefits.
