Wastequip Con Fab, a manufacturer of industrial waste containers located in New Lebanon, N.Y., announced that it will invest $2.2 million to rebuild its existing 50,000 square foot building, replace capital equipment, and make related leasehold improvements to the property destroyed by a fire at Wastequip’s Columbia County location. As a result of this project, this company will retain 65 jobs at this location.
“The people at Empire State Development were instrumental in our decision to keep our facility in New York instead of moving to another state,” said Andrew DeStefano, president of Wastequip Con Fab. “We’re glad we’re staying. New York is a good state to do business in. The people that we employ, as well as the area workforce, are excellent. We look forward to many successful and productive years in New Lebanon.”
Wastequip, headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, is a leading manufacturer, designer and marketer of equipment used to collect, process and transport solid and liquid waste. Founded in 1989, they currently operate 26 manufacturing plants employing over 1,300 people in the U.S. and Canada.
In consideration of this company’s commitment to New York State, Wastequip Con Fab is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for an $80,000 capital assistance grant that will be used as reimbursement for a portion of the purchase of machinery and equipment costs and/or leasehold improvements associated with the project.
