Margaritelli, an Italian manufacturer of fine wood flooring since 1904, will invest $4 million to build a new manufacturing facility near the Chester County community of Richburg, just off Interstate 77. Margaritelli will employ 65 at its new South Carolina facility.
To accommodate dramatic growth, Margaritelli will relocate all of its office and distribution functions from South Easton, Mass., to South Carolina. In addition, the company will add a manufacturing operation at its new location, marking the first time that Margaritelli will produce its wood flooring in the United States. Up to this point, the company has imported all of its products to the U.S. from its factories in France and Italy.
President/CEO of Margaritelli USA, Inc. Marco Cimmino first became interested in relocating his company to South Carolina after attending an industry conference in Charlotte.
“I found the area to be very attractive, so we began contacting local economic developers in various counties in South Carolina and North Carolina to identify the best location,” said Cimmino. “We eventually decided that Chester County, S.C., was clearly the best location for our company.”
“Specifically, Chester County offers a rural location near the major metro area of Charlotte with its large airport,” he said. “Chester County also provides available space for our continuing growth and excellent support from the county economic development office. In addition, the state of South Carolina offers a major commercial port at Charleston, which was another key factor in our location decision.”
Margaritelli has perfected wood technology for generations and also has created engineered flooring. Twenty-five years ago, Margaritelli introduced the premier product line, Listone Giordano, a hardwood flooring system made from 17 different species of wood that offers stability, durability, practicality and beauty.
