Welch Allyn to Upgrade Facilities in Upstate New York

SKANEATELES FALLS, N.Y. (July 19, 2005) — Medical instruments manufacturer is eligible to apply for a $500,000 capital grant from Empire State Development to assist with real estate improvements.

Welch Allyn, a manufacturer of medical instruments, located in Skaneateles Falls, will create 100 new jobs over the next three years and invest $2.3 million in building renovations, new machinery, and equipment while retaining 40 existing jobs. The company currently employs more than 1,000 in Central New York region.

“The incentives provided by New York State provide an outstanding enticement for us to build on the solid foundation of manufacturing excellence that was started here in 1915,” said Peter Soderberg, Welch Allyn President and CEO. “With an increasingly global business model, Welch Allyn relies on these incentives to make sure we have the people and technologies in place to remain competitive in our Central New York operations.”

Welch Allyn, Inc. was founded in 1915 and is today a leading manufacturer of innovative medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices, cardiac defibrillators, patient monitoring systems, and miniature precision lamps. Headquartered in Skaneateles Falls, N.Y., Welch Allyn employs more than 2,300 people and has numerous manufacturing, sales, and distribution facilities located throughout the world.

In consideration of its contributions to New York State’s economy, Welch Allyn, Inc. is eligible to apply for a $500,000 capital grant from Empire State Development. The funds will be used to assist the company with real estate improvements.
