Paragon Films Inc., a major producer of stretch film products used to wrap goods for shipping, will locate a manufacturing plant in Taylorsville, creating 25 new jobs during the first two years of operation and investing $10 million in the area. The project is made possible in part by a $125,000 N.C. Department of Commerce Industrial Development Fund (IDF) Grant and a Rail Access Grant from the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Paragon Films Inc., based in Broken Arrow, Okla., will immediately locate in the Alexander Industrial Park. The company will begin production by the end of October 2005.
Mike Baab, president and chief executive officer of Paragon Films Inc., said Taylorsville is a perfect location for the firm.
"We decided to locate in Alexander County because of its high quality workforce and the grants offered by the state," said Baab. "We are confident that our Paragon Films facility will be successful here."
The Alexander County Economic Development Office and the Charlotte office of the N.C. Department of Commerce assisted the company in the location process. The N.C. Department of Commerce Industrial Development Fund assists municipal or county governments with financing for eligible industries with infrastructure improvements.
