In this issue, you will find short descriptions of NAM member programs ranging from our Site Selection Network to the NAM Freight Alliance Program, which offers substantial discounts when shipping documents, packages or freight via FedEx, Yellow Transportation, Menlo Worldwide and Saia Inc.
As well, we are hoping that our members, particularly small- and medium-sized manufacturers, take advantage of export opportunities through joint initiatives with the Department of Commerce, such as our export portal at www.nam.org/exporting.
A key part of our mission at the NAM is to help our members grow and prosper in today’s increasingly competitive global marketplace. The good news is that, after a prolonged period of weakness, the economy is growing and manufacturing is leading the parade. We are finally adding jobs again, and we expect the pace to pick up steam in the months ahead.
During my presidency, the NAM will continue its Campaign for Growth and Manufacturing Renewal, which focuses attention on the importance of manufacturing to our economy and the things we can and must do to hone our competitive edge. Our goal is to foster a climate that ensures a vibrant manufacturing sector for future generations, a climate in which U.S. workers can remain the best and most productive in the world and where we can afford the latest and most innovative technologies while investing in the research and development programs that will maintain our competitiveness.
As the economy expands and you look for opportunities to grow your business, I encourage you to take advantage of the NAM Site Selection Network. The SSN, which is free to NAM members, is designed to assist companies that are considering expanding or relocating their facilities sometime in the near future.
To learn how the SSN can help your firm, please contact Melissa Morse, director, NAM Site Selection Network, at (202) 637-3194 or mmorse@nam.org.
It is my hope that the numerous programs highlighted in this year’s Strategic Moves will help you along the road to greater prosperity.
Sincerely,
John Engler, President and CEO
National Association of Manufacturers
