Strategic Sourcing Webcast

Yarkin, Former Deputy Secretary for Procurement, Department of General Services, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and President, Government Sourcing Solutions, LCC will cover Pennsylvania’s move from a decentralized procurement organization to a Shared Services model. Under Shared Services, the Commonwealth’s central buyers are assigned specific commodities which they strategically source for all Commonwealth agencies. By aggregating purchasing power, the Commonwealth’s strategic sourcing initiative has saved more than $140.7 million on an annualized basis.

David Yarkin will be providing stimulating information on the strategic sourcing initiative and how Pennsylvania has transformed its procurement operations, saving millions for its taxpayers.Mr. Yarkin’s presentation will cover the following topics:

  • The decision to change the Commonwealth’s procurement philosophy and adopt a strategic sourcing methodology;

  • Why and how the Commonwealth transitioned from a decentralized procurement organization to a centralized, Shared Services model.
